Jetpack commercial license
-
I’m posting here about my displeasure at the WordPress demand that my site pay for a commercial license. Despite an appeal, Jetpack refused to change the decision. So I’m posting here since there is no recourse elsewhere.
I believe this is an effort to generate more revenue. It is disappointing since I’m someone who’s happily used self-hosted WP for 2 decades. I don’t understand why you turn a perfectly satisfied user into an unhappy one.
MY site is not commercial. It does not sell products other than books on politics, the subject of my blog. The amount I earn from such sales is minimal, probably not more than $200/yr. The staff deciding my appeal claimed that an LLC designation indicated commercial status. I use that in case of a lawsuit for which the LLC protects any assets. The LLC does not indicate any commercial activity.
Further, there are many other plugins & Google Analytics which offer the Jetpack stats feature. So why pinch pennies from users when they can turn to numerous alternatives?
