I’m not too familiar with EWWW Image Optimizer, but could you let me know if the image optimization happens when you upload the image, or if that’s something you trigger afterwards?

The image optimisation is done while uploading the image to the server via EWWW Image Optimizer. But when loading the page, Jetpack has an image with a different size, smaller than the original, but bigger than the one optimised with EWWW.

    Thanks for the extra details.

I ran some tests with the plugin on a test site of mine, using the default plugin settings, and it seems to work properly with Photon.

However, this will only work with newly uploaded images. EWWW Image Optimizer allows you to bulk optimize images that you’ve uploaded in the page and it seems to work well, but since these images have already been cached by Photon you won’t see the updated version of the image when querying it through Photon since Photon serves the old cached version of the image.

If you’d like, you can send us a list of the image URLs you’d like to refresh and I will flush Photon’s cache for these images, forcing Photon to cache the image again, and thus cache the EWWW optimized version.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Hi Jeremy. I’m having the same issue. It would be nice if we could refresh our Photon cache from the dashboard. I need a full cache refresh myself.

@mokithebrave That dashboard option doesn’t exist yet, but that’s on our roadmap.

In the meantime, you can send us a list of the image URLs you’d like to refresh via this contact form and we will flush Photon’s cache for these images.

    Thank you.

Thanks Jeremy. I’ve submitted the request.
