• Hi guys

I am having a problem with Publicize and I am not sure if it is the same one that lots of others are complaining about or not so here is what is happening on my site. Please let me know if it is the same or what I need to do to try to fix it.

I only recently (some time in May) installed and configured Jetpack. I then posted an article on my site and Jetpack publicized it to facebook, twitter and linked in. Then there was the most recent update to Jetpack 2.3.1 and now when I post to my blog nothing is publicized to either of the social media platforms.

I have been reading this support thread and searching for an answer but not been able to get either working. I did find there is a conflict with Better WP Security which I have installed. However the problem seems to be when Better WP Security blocks access to the XML-RPC.
Now there are three things to note with this:

Firstly, Better WP Security was installed and configured to block access to XML-RPC before I installed Jetpack and despite this Jetpack publicized to facebook, twitter and linked in the first time.

Secondly, the problem of not publicizing did not start until after the last update.

Thirdly, Better WP Security recognises that blocking access to XML-RPC could cause conflicts with other plugins and gives you the choice to block or unblock it. Since I have been having this problem I have unblocked this feature but am still unable to publicize posts.

With all of that in mind:

Do you think my not being able to publicize is related to the problem so many others are having or is it something else?

    Hi Jeremy

I will answer your second question first, No I don’t use any extra plugins to clone or duplicate posts. Below is a complete list of all plugins installed.

    Active plugins
    Akismet 2.5.8
    All in one Favicon 4.3
All In One SEO Pack 2.0.2
    AP Gravatars 1.0
    AuthorSure 1.7
    Better WP Security 3.5.4
    BM Custom Login 1.6.6
    Broken Link Checker 1.8.2
    BWP Google XML Sitemaps 1.2.1
    Exclude Pages from Navigation 1.92
    Flexi Pages Widget 1.6.13
    Form Manager 1.6.41
    FV Gravatar Cache 0.3.3
    Google Analytics for WordPress 4.3.3
    Google Language Translator 2.2
    Image Widget 4.0.7
    Jetpack by WordPress.com 2.3.1
    Link Library 5.8
    Link Manager 0.1-beta

    Twenty Eleven Theme Extensions 1.2
    Ultimate TinyMCE 4.8.1
    Web Invoicing and Billing 3.08.7
    WordPress Font Uploader Free 1.3.2
    WordPress Importer 0.6.1
    WP Maintenance Mode 1.8.10
    wpTextResize 1.5

I write the post in a word processor including the title and keywords. I then copy and past the individual parts in the appropriate fields on the post screen and add any images. Sometimes I save as draft along the way but for the last post I did not it was completed in one go. I then publish the post.

Separately if I go to the Sharing Settings screen for any reason the “You have successfully connected your blog with your Facebook account.” screen pops up and if I click the OK button the screen starts to finish and then goes back to the “You have successfully connected your blog with your Facebook account.” screen again over and over… I have to click the x in order to finish. I am not sure that the blog is successfully connected to any if the sites.

    Thanks for all the details.

Could you try to deactivate and delete Better WP Security, Secure WordPress, and WP Maintenance Mode? All 3 plugins are able to block connections from WordPress.com to your site, so it might be what’s causing the problem.

If you do not want to deactivate Better WP Security, you should be able to uncheck the option to block xmlrpc.php in the plugin settings. The 2 other plugins might offer such options as well, but I’m not familiar with them so I can’t guarantee it.

Let me know if it changes anything.

is there a way to Publicize old posts that have not bee previously Publicized?

I’m afraid not – Publicize only works with newly published posts. You will have to publish a new post to check the results.

    Hello Jeremy,

You wrote this wile ago: “@infodabidjan I have made some changes to your account. Could you try to reset your Facebook connection once again?”

I worked but it already more than 2 month it does not Work. All new post are not published even I reset it and reinstalled it sill is not working. Can you please check and assist?

Both your Facebook and your Twitter connections appear to be working properly.

As we discussed above, plugins that duplicate or clone posts can cause issues with Publicize. Could you walk me through the steps you follow to publish a post? Do you use a third-party app, a plugin, do you publish them directly or schedule them?

    Thanks!

I publish directly some articles and Schedule some depending on number of articles.

Is there a list of plugins that prevent publicize from working?

I manage several sites and I have two that refuse to work. I can’t figure out the commonalities.

Do they all fail to publicize, or so some of them go through?

Either way, can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site’s connection to WordPress.com?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

Is there a list of plugins that prevent publicize from working?

Plugins that clone or duplicate existing posts to create new ones are not compatible with Jetpack. Other than that, Publicize should work with all your plugins.

I am noticing that All in One Webmaster

    http://crunchify.com/all-in-one-webmaster/

is causing Publicize to stop working completely in some cases.

Is there any reason for this?

I’m not familiar with this plugin, but I could suggest another SEO plugin that is free, popular among WordPress users, and compatible with Publicize and Jetpack in general:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

Give it a try, and post again here if you still experience issues!

If you’re tied to All in One Webmaster, I’m afraid I can only recommend that you contact the plugin authors; since the plugin is premium, they might be able to help you with this issue.
