    recently whenever I tried to access my web page through the dashboard, I got a “critical error has occurred “ message. I disabled all my plug-ins and discovered that it was Jetpack that was causing the critical error. Is there anything I can do to re-activate Jetpack without the critical error recurring?

    I am not technically very savvy, so please keep any replies very simple.

    When such an error occurs, the site admin receives a message with the details of the failure. The error should also appear in error_log or wp-admin/error_log.

    Find these errors and share them here to get support.

    Thanks for your interest. I am very much a neophyte at this game. I am almost sure I never received a message telling me of the critical failure. I went to my dashboard but was unable to find anywhere that had an error log. Where should I look for it?

    These are files on your server. You can see them using your hosting control panel’s File Manager or an FTP program.

    If this is too much for you, contact your hosting support and/or web developer.

    Hi @homeexchange , as @galbaras suggested, checking the error server log is a good place to find some clues. Here’s a guide that may help: How to Find and Access WordPress Error Logs.

    Additionally, I notice that your site loads over HTTP but not HTTPS, so you might also want to ask your host about configuring HTTPS and having HTTP redirect to it.
