Just to make sure I understand this plugin correctly: there is no way to take list of links already created in WP, and pull them into the plugin so that it ‘takes over’ the existing links, correct? I would have to re-type each link one by one to get them into the plugin, right?

    Hi kvmorris,

If the links are already Simple Links from another site it is currently possible to use the WordPress importer to export/import the links from one site to another.

There is a premium add-on which will be available sometime in the next few weeks which will allow for CSV importing/exporting.

Otherwise, you are correct, they will have to be entered manually.

thanks for the very quick reply! That’s what I thought… well, I can’t fathom manually reconstructing my links and apparently this is not such a simply request or else your plugin would simply ‘take over’ all existing links in wp… so, I’ll just have to live with the alphabetical links list in wp, unfortunately. 🙁

    Hi Kvmorris,

I just remembered there is the ability to convert WP links into Simple Links.

If you look on the Settings page (WordPress Links) section, there is a button to Import Links from the old Links Manager into Simple Links.

The old Links Manager has been deprecated for a while so I totally forgot about it. If that is what you are talking about, this is as easy as clicking the button.

Hi, thanks… but unforunately it is not there. Just went through every panel in the ‘settings’ area… no links import in there. 🙁 darn!

If you go to Simple Links -> Settings there is a section titled “Wordpress Links”. At the bottom of this section there is a button labeled “Import Links”. Clicking that button will import links from WordPress Links into Simple Links.

The new add-on has been released and is now available for anyone who would like the ability to import and export CSV files for links.

Great, I’m glad there is an easy way to import the WP links. Although I hit the “Import” button twice because nothing seemed to be happening, so I thought it hadn’t worked. But sure enough, it had worked and imported all the links twice. Now deleting 39 pages of links… 😀
