Resetting Hummingbird asset optimization does not initially show Forminator in the list. At some interval they then show up and seem to take on some of the asset optimization parameters. This breaks Forminator. Is there a way to exclude a plugin or make sure they are all shown in the reset process?

    Thanks

Just tested and it looks like they show up after submitting a form?

    Hi @cogz

    I hope you’re well today!

Optimization of a particular asset(s) is only triggered when a page loading that asset is loaded/visited for the first time after enabling optimization. However, I wasn’t able to replicate the issue with Forminator assets not showing up there at all until the form is submitted.

Are you using any other kind of cache on site/server apart form possibly Hummingbird’s Page Cache? If yes, does clearing such cache change anything?

Are there any other asset optimization related plugins active or e.g. some feature/option in theme that attempts to do that too?

I’m asking because it’s something that’s often easy to overlook while equally often it’s causing unexpected issues – so I’d like to make sure that we can rule it out first.

    Best regards,

    Hi Adam,
Here a description of what I am seeing.
1-There is no other caching plugin.
2-Deactive and then reactivate: 32 assets found!
Next, optimize your file structure by turning on compression,….
3-Filter by Forminator- no css, no JavaScript, No Other
4-Run a Forminator Form. The following assets found:
    Filter by Forminator

    forminator-icons
    5.0KB. plugin – Forminator, forminator-icons.min.css

    Hi @cogz,

Thank you for providing this information.

I did a test by installing both Hummingbird and Forminator on a fresh site. When I activated Asset Optimization, then switched from Automatic to Manual. Filtering by Forminator, I’m able to see several CSS and JS assets.

These were found just after installing without the need to submit a form. Could you perhaps try reinstalling the plugins with no preserved data(if possible)and then running a plugin conflict test to check if any conflicts exist with other plugins?

First, create a recent backup in case you lose any settings during the test and have to restore to a previous working state.

Then deactivate all plugins and MU-plugins apart from Forminator and Hummingbird, activate a default theme like TwentyTwentyOne, clear all caches and check again if the issue is still there. If not, it means that something is conflicting, so start activating the remaining plugins and theme, one by one this time, checking every time for the reported issue, until you reproduce the issue, thus finding the conflicted combination. The following flowchart image can assist you during this test: https://premium.wpmudev.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Support-Process-Support-Process.gif

Please also enable debug log from your wp-config file and check if any relevant errors are displaying when you enable Asset Optimization.

    Hi,

I do not see any errors in the log file. I will test as you recommended when possible.

Is there a way to Whitelist an Asset to never optimize. My problem the Forminator will get optimized and then I need to turn off optimization for forminator.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Did you try your test with Google Captcha? Wondering if that could be casuing a problem?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I have tried the test as you recommended and have the same results. Forminator does not show up in Hummingbird Assets until some time later.

    Thanks

    Hi @cogz ,

Please do note that Asset Optimization will only process the files and list theme inside Hummingbird > Asset Optimization page when the assets are loaded in the frontend or due to cron jobs.

So for example, if you have form configured only in the /contact page unless the /contact page is loaded in the frontend the assets related to the Forminator won’t be listed in Asset Optimization page.

When Asset Optimization is activated, Hummingbird immediately scans your site’s assets to identify those which could be optimized for performance, and hence the above workflow helps to reduce the load of the server and process the minification much faster for the users.

So the number of files listed increasing or decreasing in the Asset Optimization is expected behaviour.

However, in general, there shouldn’t be any conflict with Hummingbirds Asset Optimization and Forminator. Trying to troubleshoot what breaks the form would be the right direction in here.

Could we know which mode you are running ie whether its “Automatic” or “Manual” mode that you have configured in Asset Optimization side?

If you are looking to exclude the Forminator files then the files can be excluded under the “Configurations > Exclusion” section under Hummingbird > Asset Optimization page as shown in the following screenshot:

    Screenshot at 18:34:17.png

If you still notice the form breaking even after that then please do share a link to the page where you have the form, so that we could check further regarding this.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hi,

I am using the manual settings so there is no exclusion there. The problem has been that Forminator shows up at some future time after a reset and are is automatically optimized. I can not explain this except that initially I am use bulk update. This is still occurring but NOW even with Forminator assets optimized Forminator works correctly. I do not know what has changed. I will let you know if something changes.

I would suggest that exclusion is made available in the manual settings also. I have to go back to assets to turn off compression on other plugins that Hummingbird initially does not give a warning about.

    Thanks

Hi @cogz thank you for following up.

Just to be sure, from what I understand it is working now? If that’s the case, it could have been that cache was not cleared, might have been from Hummingbird but do you have cache active from your hosting provider?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi,

It is working now. Page caching and Browser Caching is setup within Hummingbird, but those changes were made at server level as described in Hummingbird.

    Thank you
