I know every message sent out from WordPress includes an “unsubscribe” link, but what if the subscriber no longer exists and the email address is no longer valid? How do I remove these from my subscribers list?

(No, my subscriber didn’t literally die – they simply changed companies)

I’m afraid you won’t be able to remove a subscriber from that list, even if the email address doesn’t exist anymore.

Rest assured though; since the emails are sent from the WordPress.com servers, you don’t have to worry about sending too many emails 🙂

That’s a shame, as it means the number of subscribers that is being reported is incorrect. Also, there is no report (as far as I’m aware) of non-delivery, so I don’t know if subscribers have vanished. But your point about the bounce messages is reassuring 🙂

On this occasion I copied my subscriber list into an email, and was surprised by the number of non-deliveries!

Is a feature request in order here?

Definitely! I’ll talk to our systems team, and see if we can automatically remove email addresses that are not valid anymore.

    Thanks!
