Our hosting provider is reporting that one of our sites is making thousands of admin requests. They’ve tracked it down to requests from the free version of the AdRotate plugin. This is causing a large number of 502/504 errors on this site and other sites hosted on our server. Can you tell me if there is some setting that might be causing this? Our hosting provider didn’t give us much detail so if there is something specific we need to ask them for to diagnose this issue, let me know and I’ll get it to you.

    Thanks,

  • I’m having the exact same issue… but having 503 error.
Definitely, something is not right with the latest version of the free plugin.

Same here. My hosting provider highly recommends I remove this plugin. The error log was so long support couldn’t even view it, they had to download it to see it and basically told me to get this off my site, that it’s slowing it all down. Looking forward to a fix, as I do love this plugin.

If your hosting can’t keep up with stats collection, mainly in dynamic groups (which is where admin-ajax is used in AdRotate).
Try to use less Dynamic groups.
Or, if that doesn’t help – Consider getting better hosting or moving stats elsewhere.

You can also track your stats in Google Analytics or Piwik:

We’re hosting with WP Engine which has dedicated WordPress hosting. Is there anything I can tell them to change on their end that might help mitigate this?
