Hmmm, didn’t get a response via Zendesk so I’ll try here.

This looks like a great plugin I wish I’d found sooner! Is it possible, via a hack, to set a merge field to a constant for a particular form (instead of having it as an input field)? For example, if someone signs up on the bottom bar, I have a merge field that I’d like to say “bottom bar”. It helps me keep track of where signups are coming from. (Note this is different from the “Signup source” that MailChimp adds to the subscriber record…)

That is currently not possible. However, there’s another solution to your problem. You can assign each subscriber from a form to a special group in MailChimp. Go to edit your opt-in form and open the “Integrate” step, then edit the integration and choose a group on MailChimp.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the quick reply! It’s a good solution – just not for me. I already have this data from my current subscribers in that field. But would work great for someone just starting their list on MailChimp.

Follow-on question – I can get analytics from MailMunch that might be a good substitute. But it’s not clear to me *what* analytics. It’s grayed-out until I buy, and I’m not ready to upgrade unless I know what I’m getting…

The analytics we show are these:

    1. Daily Impressions (how many people saw your form?)
    2. Daily Subscriptions (how many people subscribed?)
    3. Daily Conversion Rate
    4. Total Conversion Rate

    Thanks.

BTW – I decided that the solution to assign different signup forms to a hidden group would work for me. Thanks for the suggestion!
