I was building a production environment and a test environment, and in the production environment I got a message saying, “Error connecting to Site Kit. It appears that statistical data cannot be displayed on the dashboard because the site does not have permission to access data in your Google account.” “invalid parameter: ‘site_id'” is displayed. Looking at other inquiries, there was a statement to click on site reset and re-link, but will this method erase the data that was previously linked? I would like to be able to import the previous data as is in the production environment. Thank you for your support.

Thanks for reaching out @web6776. If you’re encountering an invalid parameter: ‘site_id' error, this means that something went wrong between your site and what we call the Site Kit service. Have you tried the Redo plugin set up button, as per this guide? If you have, with the same occurring, you may need to perform a plugin reset.

You’re also correct that resetting the plugin will reset does have consequences, but this is only with regards to your Site Kit configurations, and not your data. The data that you are shown within the Site Kit dashboard is pulled from a users Google Analytics, Search Console and AdSense accounts. Data from here is no modified in any way. Resetting Site Kit will only disconnect any administrators from the plugin, and disconnect the modules and plugin configurations that administrators may have applied. As soon as you set up the plugin once more, the data that was displayed previously will appear once more.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above, or if you need help with a plugin reset (Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit). Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. I looked at the guide and was thinking of resetting it, but I was worried about losing data, so I asked this question. Thank you for letting me know that my previous data will not be lost. I did a site reset and my data returned successfully. Thank you for your guidance.
