Hi,
Apologies for adding to this thread rather than creating a new one, but i’m having similar issues and thought i’d share how it happened.
I’d originally set up the free plugin and API with no issues. Upon upgrading to pro, I clicked to edit a map, and there was a grey box with an error message in it where the map usually loads (can’t remember the exact message – but it said to check Java console, which was indicating no API found, even though it was set up fine).
I tried the above method of removing all references in the API, and then the API from the plugin, and then reinstating each and i now get the message:
‘This page was unable to display a Google Maps element. Please contact the site administrator. If you are the administrator of this site, please check the JavaScript console or check the following page for troubleshooting: http://g.co/mapsJSApiErrors’
The map is visible under the overlay, but disappears when i close down the error message.
All plugins are updated to their latest versions, as is wordpress.
Hi Newman81
Please upgrade your Pro version to 5.73, this should fix what you’re experiencing now. If not, please let me know?
Hi,
my situation is the exactly same as Newman81’s. I’m using WP Google Maps v 6.3.13 and Pro Add-on v6.00. With disabled Pro Add-on everything works well. With enabled Pro Add-on en error occurs (This page was unable to display a Google Maps element) and in the java console I see ” Google Maps API error: MissingKeyMapError”. Do you have any suggestion?
Hi there.
Please update Pro version to 6.03. This version contains various fixes for these issues. Should you require the latest Pro version, please contact us directly on http://www.wpgmaps.com/contact-us/ as these forums only support the Basic version of our plugin.
I have tried the free version of WP Google Maps and found this same problem as the people above:
“Oops! Something went wrong. This page didn’t load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.”
Will it be resolved in the free plugin as well?
Okay, it appears that I needed to put this in the Google Browser API Key credentials in the line below “Accept requests from these HTTP referrers (web sites)”
The only thing that worked was to follow this format, of course putting my domain name in place of “example”.
*.example.com/*
Not sure if this helps anyone, but that solved my problem. Looks like the plugin works fine.
Hi Ripple Web Design.
Unfortunately a Google Maps API key is now required before using the Google Maps as of 22 June 2016.
So glad to hear you came right with this though.
Hi Guys,
I have added API key, upgraded both versions of the WP Maps plugin and I am still getting these errors.
According to the Developer Console the Key is active and API’s are enabled but I still get the *Important Notification* message when clicking into the plugin from the main WordPress menu.. HELP!
Thanks
Liam
Hi wpdev241
Please send me a link to your map so that I can look into this for you?
Hi Jarryd Long,
Here is a link to the site where the map seems to be broken – http://michelangelorestaurants.co.uk/contact
A JS alert pops up when entering the page – when I view the plugin admin menu I am presented with that Important Notice and entering the API key doesn’t seem to do anything.
Thanks so much for looking into this.
Liam
Hi Liam.
Please create a Google Maps JavaScript API key (a guide on how to do this can be found here: http://www.wpgmaps.com/documentation/creating-a-google-maps-api-key/), then go to ‘Maps’ -> ‘Settings’ -> ‘Advanced Settings’ and enter it on the page there.
This should fix the issue you’re experiencing.
Hi Jarryd,
This page was unable to display a Google Maps element. Please contact the site administrator. If you are the administrator of this site, please check the JavaScript console or check the following page for troubleshooting: http://g.co/mapsJSApiErrors
I’ve followed the advice as to how to fix this issue but still no positive result. Would you mind if I sent you on some details and you could suggest maybe why this is continuing to be an issue.
Kind regards
Cormac

Hi Cormac.
I’ve gotten in touch with you directly.
May I recommend removing your email address from the post as this is against the forum rules (sorry about that).
