• Hi, I followed the guide to setup ga4 ecommerce. (I have GA Universal on gtm too).

    1) GA4 – Pageview – All pages tag should be set on one container and the e-commerce tag should be in another? That’s not clear on the tutorial cuz it only mentions to create a new container on the import json step.

    2) When I try to preview I get an error that event {{Event}} is not valid.

So, what is supposed to be there on the event name? I changed it to purchase, I could preview, but each click on a product was a “purchase” event.

    Thank you

    Hi,

You only need one Google Tag Manager container, within this container you need to create a “Google Analytics 4: Configuration Tag” on your won. It is not included in the container import because in some cases this might already exists and I do not want to make trouble to anyone.

If you have an error message about the missing {{Event}} variable then visit the “Variables” page on the left in your container and click on the “Configure” button at the right top part of the “Built in variables” panel. Then turn on the checkbox next to the “Event” variable.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I made it to work, I have NO IDEA what I did differently but now it worked!

In another subject, is there a way to exclude user roles like we have on GA Universal?

    Thanks

Is it possible to have universal and ga4 at the same time?
I have each on each container, but as soon as I activate ga4, universal is gone to 0.
