Fatal Error Jetpack 4.0.2
-
Hi – I just updated Jetpack to 4.0.2 and I’m getting a fatal error message. Prior to this Jetpack was causing a 500 error and knocking my site offline.
Does anyone have any info on this? Wordrpess is at v. 4.5.

Hi, what’s the error you’re getting?
It now just says there has been a fatal error and jetpack failed to activate.
But before it was giving me a string saying that a file could not be found on line 48.To install 4.0.2, did you access your site through FTP and deleted the folder wp-content/plugins/jetpack, to then go to WP Admin and install it again?
No I did it through the WP Dashboard (Update plugins)
I did delete the plugin through WP Dashboard and reinstall it after the initial fatal error failed to activate message.
Could you try to log in to your site via FTP or CPanel, and delete the existing Jetpack plugin folder again?
You’ll find the Jetpack plugin folder here:
wp-content plugins jetpack - DELETE THIS FOLDEROnce you’ve done so, are you able to get back into your dashboard? Do you get any errors at that point?
Could you then go to the Plugins menu, and make sure that the Jetpack plugin doesn’t appear at all in the list of your plugins?
If the plugin isn’t there, proceed to Plugins > Add New, and install the plugin again. If the fatal error comes back, could you check your server error logs around the time when you experienced the issue, to find out more about the error?
If you don’t know how to access your server error logs, your hosting provider should be able to help.
Let me know how it goes.
Ok – I deleted it from the CPanel File Folder, checked to make sure it wasn’t listed on the plugins and then reinstalled it – still getting an error message.
this is the error message
‘Warning: require_once(/home2/fullyemp/public_html/natureschannel/wp-content/plugins/slimjetpack/class.jetpack-network.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/fullyemp/public_html/natureschannel/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php on line 48’
I went to /error_log and didn’t see anything pertaining to this installation.
I went to wp-admin/error_log and found these two lines repeated an additional 4 times

could fix it deleting Jetpack folder and reinstallingnow with Jetpack 4.02 WP Dashboard is accessible, but WP doesn’t recognize/find some plugins and the theme of the site, just twentysixteen
delteing the new Jetpack 4.0.2 folder and reinstalling didn’t remedy the situation
@christineagro Some of the Jetpack files appear to be missing from your WordPress installation at the moment.
Could you try to delete Jetpack via cPanel again, and then install the plugin manually as explained here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_InstallationLet me know how it goes.
WP Dashboard is accessible, but WP doesn’t recognize/find some plugins and the theme of the site, just twentysixteen
@leonardo That seems to be a different issue. Could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack#postformCould you let me know your site URL there, so I can take a closer look?
Thank you!
