Fatal error after updating the plugin

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare pmpro_isDateThisMonth()…
on activating.
Removed it and downloaded the stable version, but gave me the fatal error too. Restoring my site now and hope that it works fine ok.
Any advice about the fatal error?
