• Hi,

I am using the Pixel Cat plugin on my WordPress website to track Facebook events.

The plugin provides two tracking methods:

    1. Facebook Pixel (browser-side tracking)
    2. Conversions API (server-side tracking)

In the plugin settings, both options can be enabled at the same time.

    My question is:

If I choose to use Conversions API for Facebook tracking, do I only need to configure the Conversions API?

Or should I configure both Facebook Pixel and Conversions API together?

The reason I am confused is that when setting up Conversions API, it also requires me to enter the Facebook Pixel ID, which makes me wonder whether CAPI is already connected to the Pixel automatically, or whether the browser Pixel also needs to be installed separately.

What is the recommended setup for WordPress websites?

    Thanks!

    Hi jackievon51,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I missed your message.

If you are using the Conversions API option in Pixel Cat, you only need to configure that option.

The Conversions API setup includes both your Facebook Pixel ID and Conversions API access token, so Pixel Cat will handle both the regular browser-side Pixel tracking and the server-side Conversions API tracking together.

You do not need to configure the Facebook Pixel separately as well. The Pixel ID is included because both the browser Pixel and Conversions API send data to the same Meta Pixel/data source.

So, for the recommended setup, you can simply enable and configure Conversions API using your Pixel ID and access token.

    All the best.
