    Users are receiving an error message when trying to subscribe with the jetpack subscribe widget.

    The error message: Oops! There was an error when subscribing. Please try again.

    We’ve been dealing with this issue for almost 5 months now. We have tried many troubleshooting options, such as updating / reverting back to older versions of the plugin, Jetpack.

    We’ve disconnected / connected Jetpack. We’ve ran the Jetpack debug tool and it says that everything looks great. There doesn’t seem to be a backend issue.

    We’ve turned off all plugins to see if there were any conflicting plugins, but nothing was found. Just today we completely changed the site onto a new theme, and that still didn’t work.

    Please let us know if there is a way you all are able to look into this or advise us on how to fix this issue. We’d greatly appreciate it.

  • Hi there,

    I just tried subscribing myself, and got the same error message. We are looking into this now and we will get back to you via email when we have some more information.

    @happyaxident Hi Emily,

    This issue resolved itself – we are now able to receive new subscribers using this widget. I’m surprised you were prompted the error message because I tested it out again just now and it worked for me.

    I’d be curious to see what kind of information you get back. I noticed when I would try to test with a fake email address I would receive the error message, whereas a real email address would work.

    Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you!

    Hi there,

    I’m glad the that the issue is resolved. Thank you for letting us know!

    That’s correct! If the domain does not exist, this automatically triggers an error, and the subscription fails.

    Thank you!
