Error google_api_connection_fail
-
For several days the Site Kit By Google plugin in my wordpress has not shown data, resulting in this error:
“Your site may not be ready for Site Kit
It seems your site is having a technical problem with data retrieval from Google services.”
Please tell me how to correct it

Thanks for reaching out @elcesar21. Based on the details you kindly shared, it sounds like something is blocking communication between your site and Google services. So we can determine more on this, please share the following:
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
- Have you been able to setup Site Kit on this website previously? If so let me know of any changes you may have since made (ie. wp-admin path changes, URL change)
We also have a guide on the plugin website in relation to this.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
As I have seen that they have asked for similar queries, I have sent the information about the health of the site through the form
I have just added another domain to my wordpress which is multisite, https://www.quipucont.com
Before, it was also taking https://www.eltakana.net to https://enaccion.eltakana.net and https://lawebnobasta.eltakana.netI can see that you have since shared your Site Health information, many thanks. From reviewing the details I don’t see anything obvious that would be resulting in a block when setting up Site Kit.
Based on your comments regarding additional sites, let’s first of all work on your eltakana.net site, with the details on this shared in your Site Health information. To troubleshoot this further, please follow the steps below, which can help rule out any third party plugin conflicts:
- Login to this site (eltakana.net) from a Chrome browser incognito window.
- Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
- Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
- From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
- Attempt to setup Site Kit once more.
If the same occurs when trying to connect Site Kit, please let me know whether you initially moved this site from elsewhere, or has Site Kit set up previously on this site, but since made changes to the site URL, wp-admin path or with your WordPress files location. We can then perform some additional checks.

Site Kit does not appear among the available plugins.
Yes, I had set it up before on this site, but apart from having added the domain https://www.quipucont.com I only moved a couple of folders of a plugin so that some of my modified templates would not be overwritten
Strange that Site Kit or your other plugins don’t appear while in troubleshooting mode. I can’t be sure of the cause for this. Not to worry, we’ll try another approach given you had Site kit setup previously on this site. Please follow the steps below in order to do so:
- Visit your WordPress general settings
- Change your “Site Address” and your “WordPress site address” from
https://www.quipucont.comtohttps://quipucont.com(without the www). - Save your settings
- Attempt to set up Site Kit once more
What I suspect may have happened, is Site Kit was connected with different credentials based on your previous set up. The steps above will trigger Site Kit to collect site records for your current site.
If the same occurs, please share any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information previously shared. Such errors may include REST endpoint references.
Still the same. There are also no serious errors in the site health module, except that I have to make the improvement to install a cache
Additionally from console I have this
root@vps-0d24c0b1:/home/ubuntu# curl -I https://sitekit.withgoogle.com
HTTP/2 403
alt-svc: h3=”:443″; ma=2592000,h3-29=”:443″; ma=2592000Appreciate the update @elcesar21. cURL errors are typically hosting related, but we can perform another couple of checks in order to try and get set up successfully. In order to do so, please check the following:
- Does the same occur if you temporarily switch PHP version?
- Do you have any other sites on the same hosting platform from which you can attempt Site Kit set up with?
- If you temporarily switch off ModSecurity from your hosting platform, does the same occur?
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
