Error after update after version 7.7.0

    This is second time that I try to update plugin from version 7.7.0 to current one. No success. Now the error is:

    The extension failed to load properly and has been shut down in recovery mode.

    An E_PARSE error was caused by line 55 of file /home/bgrbgc7o/public_html/wp-content/plugins/best-woocommerce-feed/includes/vendor-prefixed/ramsey/uuid/src/functions.php. Error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting variable (T_VARIABLE)

    We’re really sorry for the trouble this has caused, especially since this is the second time you’ve hit an update failure, that’s frustrating, and I appreciate you sticking with us and reporting it clearly.

    We’ve dug into this and found the exact cause: in the recent version, we added support for Google’s Merchant API. Google itself requires PHP 8.x or higher to use this feature, and that requirement is what’s causing the fatal error you’re seeing on sites running PHP 7.4. A piece of the underlying library tied to this support isn’t compatible with PHP versions below 8.0.

    Two things:

    1. To get you fully unblocked right away, including access to the new Merchant API support: if your host allows it, upgrading your site’s PHP version to 8.0 or higher (8.1+ is even better, and aligned with where WordPress itself is heading) will resolve this immediately.
    2. On our side: I’ve logged this as a high-priority bug for our development team. We’re planning a new release with a workaround so the plugin no longer fails on installation for sites on PHP versions below 8.0. You’d be able to run the plugin again without a hard crash, though the Merchant API feature specifically will still require PHP 8.x, since that’s a requirement set by Google, not something we can bypass on our end.

    I’m happy to let you know that we’ve released Product Feed Manager version 7.9.1 (2026-08-24), which includes fixes specifically related to PHP compatibility.

    The latest release includes:

    • Fix: Ensured full backward compatibility for PHP versions below 8.1 by conditionally loading Google Merchant API v1 scoped dependencies.
    • Fix: Added graceful fallbacks and admin compatibility notices when running Google Merchant API features on PHP versions below 8.1.

    Please update to PFM version 7.9.1 and check whether the plugin is working correctly on your site.

    This update should prevent the fatal error you encountered after updating from version 7.7.0. If you still experience any issues after the update, please let us know.

    Thanks for fast replays.
    In fact my hosting is set to PHP 8.3.

    I’ll try the new update tomorrow and will leave comment for results here. 7.9.1 is still not visible for download or update.
