Reviews

Changing the rules to force pro upgrades

When I installed this plug a couple of weeks ago I researched it to make sure that it was right for what I needed. My online store is unlikely to have more than about 100 products and they allowed up to 2000 on the free version, so perfect, right? Not so much.

I have 59 products on my store and I used the plugin to add them to my Facebook catalogue. The plugin worked perfectly… until yesterday’s update.

There was an issue after the update which caused a problem with my dashboard, thankfully that was fixed today. However, when I tried to update my feed, I got an error message that I had exceeded my limit. I thought this was strange so I had a look at the product description and to my amazement the 2000 product limit had been changed to 50 products. So I visited their website. The free plan showed ‘Feed up to 2000 products.

I submitted a support request and was told “We made all the features free from the plugin for up to 50 products. That’s the only limit you will find. Hope you can understand.” Well no. I don’t understand. I could understand if the rules are changed for new downloads, but to change the rules on existing users is ridiculous. Maybe they figure that they don’t have too many existing users but there are at least 100 people affected by this right now. This is just not ethical. They very quickly changed the limit on their website too.

Anyway, I am keeping the screenshots as proof of the above and looking for an alternative.

Two days ago I was going to give this plugin a 5 star rating but after this it is a one from me. This is not because the plugin or the support is bad but because of the above. I just can’t find it in myself to support devs that screw people over.

Plugin Doesn’t Work, Support Stinks, Answer is to buy their Premium Version

I have edited my original review multiple times and am now entering a point by point explanation of issues I have experienced with this plugin & the development team.

The plugin works pretty well, but there are several other serious concerns, mainly on the business end that need to be fixed. I have upgraded to the Premium version but have been denied the opportunity to enter my license key and use the premium interface UNLESS I ‘opt in’ to a 3rd party that basically will data mine my website and personal info associated with the site.

I have also not been offered the choice to ‘auto-renew’ or NOT and now need to make a special trip to the bank to deny and prevent the authorization ‘future’ payments to this company.

Tiered pricing is NOT offered if you need to use this plugin on multiple domains.

Don’t expect support to address your question(s) the 1st time you ask. It’s like pulling teeth to get an answer. I promised I would upgrade this plugin to 4 stars if it finally would work. It’s still only working on 1 out of 3 websites I need to use it on. I promised, so I am doing it BUT I am also posting a detailed list of the issues I have encountered. Some I am still encountering despite upgrading to the premium version.

I have purchased many plugin licenses over the years. Being asked to provide my name and email address, my site overview to include: site URL, WP version, PHP info, plugins & themes, updates, announcements, marketing TO A THIRD PARTY IS SOMETHING I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH.

1) Plugins should NOT ‘auto renew’. INSTEAD 1 month and no less than 2 weeks prior to expiration, email notifications should be sent informing the customer it is time to renew.
a. REPEAT Customers are generally offered an incentive to renew as well.
b. People change accounts, close accounts, etc. Maintaining the ability to CHOOSE the payment method used for future renewals is essential.
c. Perhaps the website is no longer being used and the use of the plugin isn’t needed
d. Not having the option to choose whether to agree to ‘auto-renew’ or not is bad business practice & in many ways also unethical
e. I now have to spend even more time to make a special trip to my bank so they can impose a block on ‘future’ payments to you
2) Emailing a license without a place to enter it is a joke
3) Forcing me to ‘opt in’ to a service that invades my website privacy and security is not ethical.
a. Not allowing me to have the premium interface to navigate without ‘opting in’ is bad business.
b. I’m sorry, but I am NOT willing to allow another company to data mine info on my site.
c. REQUIRING ME TO MAKE MY PERSONAL & SITE INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO A 3RD PARTY IS UNETHICAL.
i. I’m sorry, but I should not be required to do this so I can see the premium interface & to enter my license key
ii. YOU NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP!!!
4) Not everyone understands GMT time. For me it’s a pain in the ass. Include the country you are in so there is an alternative method of figuring out what the hell time zone you’re in.
5) Not offering a mult-domain/tiered purchase option is also poor business. I purchase many plugins, and they ALL offer a tiered rate for using on multiple domains.
6) As for my reputation on wordpress because I have changed my review so many times….
a. 1st and foremost that is YOUR fault because you keep fucking up
b. “I” don’t sell anything on Word Press… “I” am a consumer… I could give a rat’s ass what people think of me over here.
c. YOU on the other hand should care deeply about your reputation.
7) Your plugin has loads of potential BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO SELL IT You need to pay attention to the business side of things. You need to clean a lot of shit up, sorry but it’s true.
a. It appears that you are only focused on the function of your product as you would use it
i. Missing is pertinent information on the correct way to address Google Shipping and Tax entries.
ii. Not everyone sells digital download products like you do. Many, if not the majority of users ship physical products.
8) Forcing a customer to ask the same question repeatedly and not getting an answer to the question (s) asked is annoying as all hell.
9) Don’t ask for a admin user account to check out a site and diagnose problems IF all you’re going to do is report back what has already been explained.
a. i.e. I reported that despite creating a feed with less than 50 products, it was not working along with multiple other problems; you logged into my dashboard for a couple minutes. You then reported that I needed to upgrade to premium. An annoyance, worthless, and beyond pitiful support response.
10) I had to ask 6 times for PHP, Woocommerce, and WP version requirements. I needed this pertinent info to try and diagnose why your plugin doesn’t work on two out of my 3 sites. Getting an answer to a simple question was like pulling teeth.
a. I have emailed screenshots of how wonky my interface looks, and you STILL have not addressed this.
b. I, as do many others that build their own websites use Thesis as the framework. It appears that although the plugin works, the interface is really messed up. Thesis fields that have nothing to do with setting up a feed are visible. As all the fields are product essential feeds, I do believe that this wonky look is actually revealing a possible coding issue. You have not responded at all to my questions and concerns about this. I even sent screen shots.
c. Despite finally getting the Version information from you, your plugin only works on 1 out of 3 of my websites. The ONLY one it works on is the site that is completely up to date. Thus, I just don’t believe the information you FINALLY shared is in fact valid. IF it was, your plugin would work on the other sites that use the same framework & skin as all the versions are well within the range you finally informed me of.

I promised I would update the review to 4 stars because it is finally working on (1) ONE site. BUT I am also not willing to shade the truth from potential customers regarding issues they may/will encounter with your company. Dealing with you has consumed an incredible of time that as a small business essential is very damaging. Additionally, I now need to make a special trip to my bank to request that FUTURE payments to your plugin are blocked. This is an additional pain in the ass.

I wish I could post the screen shot that outlines the Privacy Invasion that ‘opting’ in requires. This is NOT the way to set up your Premium Interface. This should NOT be the way to enter a license. THIS is VERY BAD BUSINESS!!

Once again, your plugin has potential. However, IF you wish to sell it you need to focus on the business side of things. CLEAN IT UP!

Exactly what I needed!

This is a great plug-in with nice features. Easy to use & simple. I used it for Google, eBay, Amazon. All works perfectly.

I highly recommended.
