[embed] options for a video

I am adding a video to a page and on two of them they just show the black screen, and no image. Is there a way in the embed tag to display an image for the viewers to see, but then run the video when they click on it in the same spot on the page?

Setting up width and height was easy enough, but it is having no image showing on the video that is making me scratch my head.
