• I have Moderate All New User Registrations checked (I need site’s owners to look at a variety of info before allowing access to site).

I was hoping that this plugin would email the new user when the admin clicks “approved”, letting them know to come back and do what they need to do now that they can access it.

However it doesn’t seem that I can enable custom verification message, without also checking “verify email”. If “Verify Email” is checked will the user get an email only to verify, and not when they are manually approved? How can I get them an email when they’re manually approved?

  • I’m having the exact same problem.
User doesn’t receive a mail when he registers, or when he gets approved, but the admin of the site gets an email that the user is registered.

This seems like a bug in the plugin, not in the mail configuration, since emails are being sent to the admin.

I would be interested in an answer to this as well. LOVE the plugin and appreciate your expertise and efforts on putting this out there for the community. You have automated the entire process so nicely but the missing piece in my opinion is an automated email once the admin approves the user. I am going back and forth between using this plugin and “Simplr User Registration Form Plus”. Both provide similar functionality however Simplr User Registration does send an email out upon admin approval. Other than that, your’s is WAY better in my opinion.

I never heard back, but what I have found works is that if you activate the “verification” process (ie registering user has to verify their email by clicking a link… then the admin gets a notice… and can approve… and then it sends the user an “approved” email from the template. I’m not sure WHY it doesn’t work without verification, but it does with it!

Thanks Sarah! I’ll give that a try!

    Hey Sarah,

I just tested this out and I’m not getting the same results, at least what I think you mean. If I just check the “Verify all new users email address” box, a verification email is sent to the user (and admin) right away. However, if the user clicks on the verification link, they are automatically changed to “subscriber” and they can login (without admin intervention). Is that what you are wanting? What I want is for them to get an email verification email but not be able to login until the admin verify’s them manually. That functionality is working with both boxes checked however they do not get an email upon manual approval by the admin.

I tried checking just the “Moderate all new user registrations” however in that scenario, they still do not get an email once the admin approves them. Am I missing something here? Thanks!

For me it works only if BOTH verify and moderate boxes are checked.

So you’re a late nighter too huh? 🙂

Ok, so to clarify then, your users ARE GETTING an automated email AFTER the admin moves them from unverified to subscriber (or whatever other role you set manually)?

If so, I obviously have something else going on that is breaking the plugin.

    Cheers,

Yes, that’s what is happening for me. But it took a a lot of playing with settings to get there…

I’m on the West Coast, so not that late 😉
