“Editor” permissions no longer accesses data

    Hello – for some reason, the Data for the Broken Links is only available for someone with Admin rights to the WordPress dashboard (using the Local (old) setting). Until very recently, anyone with Editor rights was able to access the data (which is preferred, as I don’t want to provide admin access to content editors the website.) Is there a way to change these permissions so that editors can access the list of broken links?

    I hope you are doing well, and I am sorry you have faced this problem.

    We could replicate the issue with the “Editor” role. Our BLC team is already aware of this and is working to release a fix as soon as possible.

    A fix should be released in the next update. Please be sure to update your plugin when the fix is released.

    Broken Link Checker version 2.4.8 doesn’t have this issue. If you need Editor role access badly, you can downgrade BLC to version 2.4.8 until a fix is released.

    I hope you’re doing well, and I’m sorry to see that you faced this issue.

    A new version of the Broken Link Checker (2.4.13) has been released, and it should include a fix for the issue that you were having.

    Could you please update it, clear all caches, and let us know if you still face this issue?

    Thanks for bringing this issue up.🌞

    It actually looks like the problem (which I’ve also noticed over the last week) has now been resolved! 🤔

    I tried to submit a request a few days ago too, but I struggled to describe the issue as concisely and clearly as you did… (plus, I got distracted by other issues while writing it… so I never actually sent the message).😐

    Thanks again for getting the ball rolling on a fix for this.

    However, I think one interesting question remains:😎

    Currently, under “Options > Advanced,” there is a selection for
    “Show dashboard widget for:”
    1) Administrator
    2) Editor or higher
    3) Nobody (deactivate the widget)

    Wouldn’t it actually be better if there were also options for: 😎
    4) Author or higher
    and
    5) Contributor or higher
    … as well❓🤔

    Personally, I would certainly welcome that—in the spirit of free choice for free citizens❗😉
