Edit Profile Tabs from 'Edit Profile' menu

I have managed to get certain profile tabs to show up for certain pmpro levels in functions.php but user can still edit those tabs whening editing profile. I was thinking I could use the same code for the profile editing as well within the bp-custom.php (not sure what file to edit) or do I add a little code to what I already have?
