Duplicate notification emails

I just updated to 5.3.1 and the plugin now seems to be sending duplicate emails for notifications. Any idea what might be causing this or how to fix? Thanks!

Hi Tom, I’m already investigating it. Do you maybe have a staging I could access and test what’s going on? That could faster the resolution.
Thanks so much for the quick reply! I don’t have a staging area at the moment, but my site dev suggested something based on prior issues we had with a similar notification plugin, which is that it could be an “issue where Apple News or Jetpack’s social sharing feature is triggering an extra save which triggers the plugin again.” Would be curious to know if that seems right.
Yes, it does sounds like it could be the case? Will you be able to give me the list of plugins you are using?
Btw, which trigger is sent twice?
I’m positive that in some cases the Advanced Custom Fields triggered the action twice but I patched that.
Tom, I think I got it! It was most likely initiated by post revision. Could you please install the development version with the patch and let me know if it helped? I’ll release immediately.
With apologies, I don’t personally feel tech savvy enough to install the dev version and make sure it doesn’t conflict with the existing plugin or erase my saved settings for that. If you would be able to provide more detail on steps I should take to make that happen carefully (like whether I should deactivate and/or delete the existing plugin) I would be happy to give it a try. Thanks!
Ah, no worries! The safest way to update is via FTP. You’d need to unzip the package and just drop all the files into /wp-content/plugins/notification/ directory.
To do that via wp-admin make sure no “Uninstallation” checkboxes in plugin settings are checked, then remove the plugin and install it from the zip (Plugins -> Add New -> Upload Plugin).

I’m trying to create a wordpress website. I wanted to use notifications to alert from new article. But when I’m publishing an article, the notification plugin sends me more than a hundred email to the same destinator.

@ricdel none of these plugins look suspicious. Can you please install the development version as I wrote above as well? It should fix the issue. Please let me know!

I’m getting the same thing. I ended up getting 97 email notifications. Can I test the dev version as well?
