• Hello…

With the new update how does this plugin work??? The chat tab on the left menu has no more options. You click it and all it says is no active chats?

    Hi Tyler,

In the new update, normal agents / users with low permissions have access only to what they need to perform live chat. These users have access only to the Live Chat page and the Missed Chats page.

WordPress Administrators have access to all options as shown here:

The reason we made this change is to disallow normal wordpress users like Editors, Authors, Publishers from having access to sensitive data like your plugin settings, chat history, exporting all of your data etc. These are functions that should only be accessible by Administrators.

If you’re a wordpress administrator on your site and you’re still not seeing all tabs, please deactivate and reactivate the plugin. This should fix the issue. Also make sure your administrator in ‘WordPress > Users > Make this user a chat agent’ is enabled.

Let us know how it goes.

I am an admin. Deactivating and activating fixed the menu issue. Now I see the options.

On the dashboard it says I have 642 active users. Why can’t i issue a chat with them? I don’t even see them on a list anymore

    Hi Tyler,

We’ve removed the option to initiate a chat with a customer directly due to privacy concerns & the load it creates on your server. This functionality will make it back later.

In the latest version, you can only chat with a user if they start the chat on their side.

Atleast let us see the users and where they are…. How is it a privacy concern? All other chat programs allow it

Just because other software allows it doesn’t mean it’s not bordering on ‘illegal’. With GDPR and all the new privacy laws in effect, monitoring and then initiating a chat with a website visitor who hasn’t accepted any terms and conditions is currently considered a gray area in terms of legality.

We want to add this feature back, but only when we’re able to implement it without exposing our plugin users to legal risk like other chat plugins do. It will be added back, but we need more time to work out these details.
