Displaying or not category

Hello,
I need to create maps with dynamic display. For example, a map with hikes : but I would like the user to be able to select the difficulty of hike he wants to display, so the map is easier to read. I guess I would use the category (having a category for beginner, intermediate, advanced…). But is it possible to display a caption where the user would click or unclick based on what he wants to display ? Based on your answer, I will purchase the pro or not, because this is a keay feature for me.
