Disappearing Links

    Good morning/evening

    I run a legal website that has a lot of links to case law, legislation… Earlier today, I realised that the links in all the pages “disappeared”. The text remains but there is no link attached to it. As example, in the page I have listed, one should be able to click on the name of a case and a pdf of said case should open in another tab and it does not. I am not a IT person by any means and I would be so grateful if you could help me with this as there are thousands of documents that are now unavailable to read. Thank you so much for your help!

    • check in your UPLOADS folder to be sure the pdf files are still present (look in your webhosting account)- if your PDF files were stored in another location look in that location instead of uploads folder. if you are not sure how to access your files and folders, please contact your webhosting support team for guidance.
    • if you have a backup copy of your site’s files and database from a date before this issue started, you could restore the backup copy. the restore process may vary based on how you were creating your backup copies. if your do not have a backup copy of your site’s files and database, ask your webhosting support team if they have one.
    • in the event a plugin conflict might be happening – try the following -install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins and theme might help narrow down the source of the issue https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/
