• For as long as I’ve been running the linked blog, about 2 years, I’ve had the same issue. I’ve had different themes, plugins, etc. and nothing running on the blog now is the same as it was 2 years ago, so I’m stumped as to pin-pointing a cause.

About 1 in every 6 blog posts I schedule to publish at a later time will eat the featured image I assign it. The featured image will be there when I preview the post after saving and scheduling, but when it goes live there is no featured image selected for the post.

It’s always on scheduled posts, never on posts I push live immediately. It’s more likely to happen on posts I have edited after scheduling, even if I take care to make sure a featured image is still selected and saved.

  • Can you read the php error logs from your hosting server at the time of the posting to see if there is a clue in there?
Also, what approach are you taking to schedule post – are you using a particular plugin?
Do you have JetPack installed with Lazy Loading?
Can you run this to see if there is anything flagged?

Can you set up a staging site, and remove all your plugins, and theme and test it?

You sort need to elminate things to troubleshoot well.
