Default language not working and other issues.
-
Hello,
First of all congrats on this plugin. It’s very useful and with a very nice UX interface.
The website where we are having trouble is this one:
http://www.zubimkt.com/cli/wpl3So far so good, but I’m having the following problems:
.1
We have 2 languages (Portuguese and English) and default one is set to Portuguese, but everytime we visit the website, is the English with the /en that starts. We don’t have any Cache plugins. Use Pre-Path Mode (Default, puts /en/ in front of URL), it’s ON. Show displayed language prefix when content is not available for the selected language, it’s ON. Detect the language of the browser and redirect accordingly, it’s OFF.
CSS Code:
.qtranxs_flag_en {background-image: url(http://www.zubimkt.com/cli/wpl3/wp-content/plugins/qtranslate-x/flags/gb.png); background-repeat: no-repeat;}
.qtranxs_flag_pt {background-image: url(http://www.zubimkt.com/cli/wpl3/wp-content/plugins/qtranslate-x/flags/pt.png); background-repeat: no-repeat;}.2
Changing the language with the flags on the menu, last item, it does change the content but sometimes it does not change the menu itself..3
We are using Qode Slider, but Qtranslate only translates the Slide Title and not other fields like Slide Text and/or Slide Button LabelThanks in advance for your kind support.
Best Regards

1. Delete cookies to access clean the site. Here default is without /en/
2 and 3 after dinner 🙂
2. What do you mean by this? Can you show it?
3. read this Is it possible to translate theme custom fields?
Also rad this Integration Guide2.
When you enter the site you have the Portuguese language has default and in the menu everything is in Portuguese. At the end of the menu on the top right corner you have the flags where you can switch the language. When you switch to English, the contents of the pages and the url switch to /en, but the Menu still continues in Portuguese. But if you refresh or reload, it will appear the English one…
The Problem is that is not auto refreshing the menu to English when you choose so.
The opposite does not occur, I mean… if you are in the English version with the /en sub and everything in English, if you go to the menu and choose Portuguese it refreshes all the site, or at least the contents, sliders and menu.
Hope I’ve made myself clear.
Thanks for the support.
BTW, Nr 1 and Nr 2 Solved. Working now!
Only left Nr 3.Many Thanks.
Sorry.
Nr 1 and Nr 3 Solved.
Left Nr 2, Hope you understood my last statement about the behaviour.
Many thanksit seems here that the entire menu is not working properly.
/cli/wpl3/en/#fundmanagement does nothing.
/cli/wpl3/en/#businessadvisory does nothing.
/cli/wpl3/en/#contactus changes link but no other page.
is this correct?Yes, not all the menus are working with url or anchors.
Does it affect the problem that was mentioned before regarding switching language and menus ?!?Does it affect the problem that was mentioned before regarding switching language and menus ?!?
I do not think so.
Try to reproduce the problem under a simpler configuration with as many plugins off as possible and with one of the standard themes, like “Twenty Fifteen”, “StoreFront”, etc. This may help you to figure out which plugin is in conflict.
But why does it refreshes itself when switching to Portuguese and not the other way around? Is not that a function or call to action from the Language Plugin?
There are now three topics with the same problem switching menu languages.
I’ve seen that they all have a theme from Themeforest:
Bridge theme from Themeforest
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/menu-doesnt-switch
Elison theme from Themeforest
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/default-language-not-working-and-other-issues
Stockholm theme from Themeforest
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/language-switcher-works-fine-but-menu-wont-switch-as-wellYou basically need to talk to theme authors, telling them that it all works fine on “default WP theme”, please, make it work on your theme too …
Some themes catch the click and do some thing really special with it, like sending an ajax request and then updating only applicable part of the page, for example. We need different way of language switching for those and the theme developers need to tell us how to do it.
there have been significant changes made, please test it whether it solves your menu problem.
Download the latest Beta version of qTranslate-x Download it here
Do not use install via WordPress admin!
First unzip the new file.
Deactivate the existing version of qTranslate in WordPress admin.
Then with FTP delete all files in the existing qtranslate-x folder and after that copy all new files in it.
Activate qTranslate-x again via WordPress admin. It worked.
But not only because I’ve made that update, but also (and can be an issue to other customers), that I’ve changed the behaviour to Use Pre-Path Mode (Default, puts /en/ in front of URL). SEO friendly. and NOT CHECK the Hide URL language information for default language. Thanks in advance for your kind support.
RegardsYou are welcome!
