    Hi @reggy,

    Thanks for trying out BestAzon.

We just checked your website, and cannot reproduce the issue you mention. The bestAzon plugin is completely removed from your site (you can check it in the page source). Also, clicking the links you mentioned, took me to the Amazon Japan site as you wanted.

Perhaps your issue was due to some caching that may have happened on these pages. Please confirm if you still have any issues and we’d love to help you.

BestAzon plugin is designed for not changing any content on your site and as a result, the uninstall always reverses the localization behavior.

I deleted the plugin completely instead of simply deactivating it to see if that fixed the issue, and it did not work. I have tried accessing the Amazon.co.jp hyperlink in the example through my website’s page, and it always leads me to an Amazon.ca alternate, leading to a 404 error page. I have tried this with three different internet browsers.

I have tried an entirely different device with my laptop, and the same problem still occurs: I click on what is clearly the Amazon Japan link on that page, but I am transported to an error page where the “.co.jp” is replaced by “.ca” and that β€œtag=vig07-20” is added to the end of the URL.

I have purged the W3TC cache of my website twice, and the Cloudflare cache once. Those didn’t fix anything, as well as clearing the cache of the different browsers.

Surely the plugin must have left some sort of remnant in my website for this to be occurring. Could it be a Canada only localization problem?

@reggy – as we mentioned, there is no remnant of BestAzon on your website. Its easy to check too as in the page source you will find that the BestAzon script is not loading, and thus there is no way localization may still be occurring.

In any case, we recorded a live video – as you will see, the link on the specific page you mentioned is indeed going to Amazon Japan store. Here is the video – http://nimb.ws/D7V2P4

Now since you are still seeing the link being redirected, the only reason we can think of is caching at your end (i.e. your browser). Did you try using another device altogether (e.g. use your mobile phone or another laptop)?

It’s not universal, since I’ve contacted an associate of mine in the UK who this is not happening with. Despite this, how is it still happening with me? Like I said above, I tried an entirely different device through my laptop.

I also just contacted another associate of mine who resides in Canada, and he is getting the same error. What he told me he got when he clicked the link:

    Looking for something?
We’re sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site

    Go to Amazon.ca’s Home Page

Should I also capture video of this occurring? Both of us reside in Canada and we’re getting the same link localization error; it cannot be a caching issue, and I would have to imagine it relates to this plugin.

Actually, apologies, I have just found the issue:

After deactivating all plugins, I surprisingly found that the culprit was “Disqus Comment System.” Through the website’s settings, I discovered that “Automatically append merchant codes to product links on your site” on Disqus had somehow become enabled. This was causing the issue, for some reason, and might have been conflicting with the Amazon localization plugin as well.

    Thank you for the help.

Hmnnn… that is super unusual. At the top of my mind, I cannot imagine a reason why.

    1. BestAzon script is not there on the page, so BestAzon cannot be triggering
    2. I also checked the console on Chrome – on clicking the link, the browser is redirected to Amazon directly with no intermediate redirection
    3. I tried it myself from US, and was send to original JP page. I also tried with various proxies (CA, FR) and every time its taking me to the original link as should happen

Here is what I suggest you to do:

    ****
    Open Chrome browser
    Open console by CTRL-SHIFT-i
Type in the address of the page http://personacentral.com/persona-5-comic-anthology-dna-media-comics-cover-released on the browser bar
Click on the specific link that is causing you issues
Copy the console messages and kindly send to me at bestazon@outlook.com
Right click on the website and click “view page source”
Copy the page source and send to me at bestazon@outlook.com
    ****

    Thanks!
