• We keep falling back to this subject. Our database logs are nearly impossible to maintain on an automated basis.

    Your plugin’s option (setting) “Days to Keep Database Logs” never works. We’ve set this parameter to 0 (zero), but our databases keep growing in size. They are never “cleaned” every day (or every other day).

    We’ve tried to use the above setting with a combination of ITSEC CRON True/False, WP CRON True/False, Real Cron On/Off.

    Please provide troubleshooting instructions and a fix for this issue.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

    If you set the days to keep logs to 1, does it remove the log entries after a 24 hour period?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi @beardedginger,

    Thank you. Based on your input, I have set it to one (1). Zero (0) definitely does not work. I’ll get back to you with a report in 2 days.

    Keep in mind the following: I’m using a Real Cron. It’s set to run every 30 minutes. WP-CRON is disabled. ITSEC CRON is running.

    If the above “settings” are incorrect (for the purpose of this issue), please let me know. Also, if there’s anything else we should check (to ensure the database setting works), please let me know.

    Thank you!

    @beardedginger,

    One more thing – if you don’t mind.

    Recommendations:

    (1) It would be great if your plugin could issue a notice when the database(s) has been cleaned per the above setting. It would be a nice “visual” to have. The notice location could be in the WP dashboard and/or ITSEC logs.

    (2) Strongly consider bringing back your “Clear Logs” (real time) button. It was so useful. We currently use iTSec Log Cleaner (plugin). It works like a charm and, quite frankly, is helping thousands of iTSec customers (free and Pro users). The plugin developer is considering adding some automation features to it. Perhaps you two can get together to back-fill a much-needed log cleaning solution.

    @beardedginger,

    Sorry, no dice. Days to Keep Logs set to one (1), but the database keeps growing.

    Please advise. Practical input (troubleshooting advice) or a fix would be appreciated.

    Many other users have expressed the same issue and, perhaps, have given up on this due to lack of support or no fix.

    Instead of adding new features to the plugin, would be great to focus on the “bugs” first.

    And yes, please bring back the Clear Logs button. The reason given for its previous removal — provided by one of your former employees (in a old forum post, click below) — is asinine.

    If you do bring it back (the Clear Logs button), you will score lotsa points!

    Thank you!
