At least 5 times now over the last few months, the dates on our events have shifted forward by an entire week. I have to go into WordPress and manually change them all back.

I’m using the calendar picker control when editing an event to select the event.

The Timezone in WordPress settings is set to Phoenix.

I have tried updating the plugin and not updating the plugin (in case something was changing them during the upgrade process) and it doesn’t seem to be tied to when an upgrade happens at all.

This is very frustrating and making it hard for our site to be an accurate resource for visitors.

    Hi @donnodllc

Thanks for reaching out. This is the first time I’ve encountered this particular issue, but I’ll be glad to help you troubleshoot it.

To better understand what’s happening, could you please confirm the following:

    • Are all of your scheduled events being moved forward, or is this only affecting some events?
    • If all events are affected, are they being rescheduled by the same interval (for example, all events moving exactly one week ahead), or is the behavior random?

Additionally, please provide the values for the following from your System Information page. You can find these under Events → Troubleshooting:

    • Custom Tables Migration Status
    • Custom Tables Health Check

For security reasons, please do not copy and paste your entire System Information—only the specific details listed above.

Once I have this information, I’ll be able to investigate further and advise on the next steps.

    Thanks, Darian!

It’s all of the events, exactly 1 week. The date just shifts forward, the time stays the same. For example, something like February 28th @ 6:00 pm becomes March 7th @ 6:00 pm or November 20th @ 5:45 pm becomes November 27th @5:45 pm.

    Custom Tables Migration Status
    Completed
    Custom Tables Health Check
    Good!

    Thanks again,
    Donovan

    Hi @donnodllc ,

Thank you for your message and the information/confirmation.

That is really odd. I have not heard this type of issue before as well. How often does it occur? Is there a pattern of when it occurs (i.e., every month, every week, etc.)?

For us to understand and learn more about your setup, could you also please provide the version of the following?

    1. PHP
    2. WordPress
    3. The Events Calendar
    4. Events Calendar Pro (if using)
    5. Event Tickets (if using)
    6. Event Tickets Plus (if using)
    7. Theme and Version
    Thread Starter donnodllc

    (@donnodllc)

I have not been able to determine a pattern. I don’t watch the site closely, so it’s usually when someone who wants to visit the park (the site is run by a non-profit for a local park) and the information is incorrect that we hear about it.

    1. PHP 8.3.6
    2. WordPress 6.8.3
    3. The Events Calendar 6.15.15
    4. N/A
    5. N/A
    6. N/A
    7. Alone (child 7.0)(parent 7.8.8) by Bearsthemes

It has done this since we first built the site 6 months or so ago, so it’s done it over various versions of WordPress and The Events Calendar plugin. I was afraid it was something happening as a result of updating the plugin, but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

    Thank you,
    Donovan

    Hi Donovan,

Thank you for your message and the information.

I don’t see anything from The Events Calendar’s code base that could attribute to this; thus, I suspect there’s a conflict that’s causing the issue here. It would be good to test for conflicts. Could you follow the steps below?

    1. Deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar Plugins.
    2. Switching to the Default theme.

Please read the Testing for Conflicts article before doing anything.

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.

It would really help in narrowing down the issue if there was a way to consistently reproduce it.

It’s doing it right now: https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/events/

If you look at the URL of an event, you’ll see I’ve appended the actual date it SHOULD be (and WAS!).

    Ex: https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/event/sunset-full-moon-hike-3-3/

Should be March 3rd (today!), but it’s showing March 10th.

The last time this was reported was when an event was happening as well (but wasn’t showing the correct date). Maybe the correlation has to do with when it’s the actual day of an event?!

This isn’t a display issue, it’s actually showing as 3/10/2026 in WordPress/Edit Event screen.

I have not edited it yet to fix these, but I need to.

This is wild, if you go to the Month view the event shows up on the correct date (3) but when you hover it, it says March 10th: https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/events/month/

It’s also on the day view (but the calendar block on the right says 10): https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/events/today/

    Hi @donnodllc

    Thanks for your response.

From the Month View, it appears that only this week’s events are affected. Could you please try editing those specific events and check whether you can see any revisions or related changes? In particular, review the original publish date and the most recent modified date to see if anything looks unusual.

One more thing — when you edit the affected events, do they display the correct date in the backend? Or is the incorrect date only appearing on the front end?

I also noticed that your event URLs contain numbers in the slugs. Are you duplicating these events, or recreating them manually using the same titles as previous ones? I’m trying to determine whether the events are being created manually, imported, or generated through a third-party integration or plugin.

    Thread Starter donnodllc

    (@donnodllc)

    @d0153,

I think the most important thing that I’m trying to convey is that when I create the event I am manually adding the -M-D (month day) numbers into the slug. That helps me to ‘at a glance’ see that they’ve shifted a week. I am not duplicating or reusing events.

So in my example link the -3-3 represented March 3rd.

The month view is not just messed up for March. April is wrong too. The Sunset – Full Moon Hike shown on April 1st on the calendar view, has the date of April 8th when you hover over it: https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/events/month/2026-04/

As you can see in the link for that event, https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/event/sunset-full-moon-hike-4-1/, It is supposed to be April 1st (4-1) not April 8th.

    • When I look at the dates in the backend, they are incorrect.
    • When I manually update the dates, they become correct in the backend as well as on the frontend.
    • I have only edited the event for today (3/3) to show this (everything else on the site is still wrong – shifted forward 1 week): https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/event/sunset-full-moon-hike-3-3/

Where can I see revisions for the events? I was thinking a version history might show me when it got changed, but I couldn’t find that anywhere.

I tried temporarily using the official 2025 WordPress template to see what the events looked like. They’re still wrong. It’s not a template/display issue. Something is changing the data in the database.

    Thread Starter donnodllc

    (@donnodllc)

I left all the events with the wrong dates for the entire work day, but I’ve now manually updated everything through May so we aren’t misleading potential visitors.

I left The November and on events messed up (if it’s even helpful to look at): https://pinnaclepeakpark.org/events/month/2026-11/

The 10/30 Astronomy Evenings is correct, but when you view (or hover) the event it shows November 6th as the date.

November 13th event shows November 20th on hover/detail page.

    (@d0153)

I’ve just tested the revision plugin, and it appears that revisions are not recorded when only event-specific fields (such as date, time, or venue) are updated. Revisions are only saved when the title or description is modified.

In the meantime, I recommend updating the affected events back to the correct dates. After doing so, please review your WordPress users and limit dashboard access to only those who absolutely need it. It would also be a good idea to reset passwords for those users as an added security measure.

If this doesn’t appear to be caused by a customization or technical issue, there’s a possibility that the dates are being manually changed by someone with admin access. Tightening user permissions and updating credentials should help prevent that moving forward.
