    Hello,

When I upload a CSV file (delimeter: ‘;’), the following information is displayed “false byte“. Thus, the file cannot be read.

    Any idea?

PS: The file is ok, it can be opened with no error with MS Excel 2010. I did an export from the Export tab, then I try to upload it, and it happens the same.

    Regards,

    Ben

This is clearly csv format issue. Use openoffice or google docs to save it as UTF-8 format. Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for your information. I have tried also by encoding the file in the UTF-8 format (with NotePad++), and it is the same result…

Kindly add the sample of csv what your testing. Let me check.

We recently migrated our site to wpengine and the “false byte” error started up.

Everything works fine on my local environment. I dropped the plugin version back to “5.5” but that didn’t help.

I tried the “CSV Importer” sample file and that produced the “false byte” error as well.

Below is pasted the first few lines of my file.

@harwooje, this is permission issue. Kindly check wp-content/uploads/ultimate_importer is writable.

Permission issue — that’s right — I ran a “Repair Permissions” feature from the wpengine dashboard and that resolved the “false byte” issue.
