Custom taxonomies
-
Hello,
I am brodcasting custome posts (recipe) that uses custom taxonomies (ingredients). It is not working : on some recipe, some taxonomie are replaced by wrong ones.
I was wondering if this is a bug, or this is because I would need the feature “Sync Taxonomies” of the prenium version ?
Thanks in advance,
Cédric

Wrong ones? The only thing I can think of is that the taxony term slugs don’t match (=were renamed on the child blog).
Could you paste a debug dump somewhere so that we can see?
// Edward – currently on a trip. Back on the 3rd of April.
Yes so here is a video showing the issue. You will see 3 «ingredients» on a custom post «recipe» I am trying to broadcast. They will change on broadcasted posts.

Also, I forgot to say : there is also SEO information that are lost, as you can see in the video

First, the SEO information doesn’t seem to be saved at all. It SHOULD be in the post’s custom fields but isn’t. I wonder why that it. If you try updating the post with the SEO info, but NOT selecting any blogs to broadcast to, does the SEO info get saved?
Second, it appears as those ingredients are not normal taxonomies. They appear to be some special taxonomy arrays – perhaps provided by a plugin? If that’s the case, which I’m guessing it is, then it’s not surprizing that Broadcast doesn’t correctly translate the taxonomy IDs to each blog: it doesn’t know about the taxonomy array…
SEO is not saved when I do is this :
Writepost in websiteA and broadcast in websiteB (without linking to children)
Remove post in websiteA
Broadcast cast post from websiteB to websiteA + websiteC)I have to start to create all recipes in websiteA because of the taxonomies that are not properly broadcasted. I use it to make some calculation while the post is in websiteA.
But thus I fill like SEO never get enabled again (it is disabled in chld post, but not enabled again when a child become a parent). If you disable Broadcast completely and then save the SEO data, does it get saved?
Broadcast does not modify the parent post at all, and therefore the SEO data on the parent should be unchanged.
Yes, SEO data get saved that way. Then when I enable again the plugin and update it is saved.
Also I confirm ingredients are not standard taxonomies. It is taxonomies with metadata.
https://github.com/jtsternberg/Taxonomy_MetaDataRight, so the SEO saving works now? Both with and without Broadcast enabled? And when broadcasting the recipes?
About the Taxonomy Metadata: as I pensée, the taxonomy data is not standard and therefore not properly broadcasted.
This will require some coding if you wish to get it done. Contact me at edward@plainviewplugins.com to see if we can solve this.
Right, so the SEO saving works now? Both with and without Broadcast enabled? And when broadcasting the recipes?
Yes it works in all case. But I have to disable/enable the plugin once for each post I publish.I will send you an email.
Hi there. I was wondering if the plugin you are using is WP Ultimate Recipe? If so, I am going to have the same problem!
I’ve just settled on using ThreeWP Broadcast to duplicate content and now this could throw a spanner in the works.
Could you possibly post some kind of update here for me to either put my mind at rest or point me in the next direction I need to go?
Thanks!
The WP Ultimate Recipe Broadcast compatability plugin is now included as an extra in the Plugin Pack.
That recipe thing seems to be more popular than I thought… 🙂
I know, who knew so many people liked recipes eh..?
Is it included in the free version or just the premium version?
In the premium version (v19), in the extras directory.
Yes I confirm I am using WP ultimate recipe (prenium version) on my wordpress multis site (and multi domain mapping https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/).

http://musculation-chez-soi.com/recettes-musculation/With the premium version of ThreeWP Broadcast, broadcasting works very well !
If you are working on a serious project, I highly recommand you this investement. You will earn a lot of times to focus more on your content. It allows me to post 2 to 3 times more recipes (the more subwebsites you have the more you earn).
In addition it is easy to update posts that way (no wrong / missing information due to manual broadcasting).I’d listen to credix’ good advice. 🙂
