Critical Errors caused by Maspik

    Over the past month, I’ve had multiple critical errors (white screen of death) on my site usually when loggin into the backend. Until today, rolling back to a backup solved the issue. I’ve also deleted and reinstalled Maspik a few times.

    Today that didn’t work, and the WP error email indicated that Maspik AntiSpam was causing the error.

    Removing the plugin brought my site back.
    But I need the spam protection. And LOVE how well this plugin works.

    Have there been recent known issues?
    Solutions so this doesn’t keep happening?

    Hi, thank you for the kind words – and sorry for the trouble!

    The white screen came from one of Maspik’s files failing to load on your site, most likely after an update that didn’t finish writing. That should never be able to take a site down, and as of version 3.1.2 it can’t: if a file is damaged, Maspik switches off just the affected part and shows a notice in your dashboard explaining how to fix it. The rest of your site keeps working.

    Please update to 3.1.2 — ideally a clean install (delete the plugin, then install it again from Plugins → Add New). If you ever see the Maspik notice, paste its message here and I’ll take a look.
