To ensure we are GDPR compliant is it possible for this plug-in to work with Cookie Consent CMP software or to use Google Consent Mode with it via Google Tag Manager?

Thanks for your response, how do I block the Meta Pixel Javascript for the users who don’t want to be tracked via the Cookie Consent banner

I’m concerned the _fbp cookie is loading without user approval. Here is some info I found.

The GDPR requires explicit consent for using cookies that process personal data, especially for advertising purposes.

    • This means users must be informed about the _fbp cookie, its purpose, and given a clear choice to accept or reject it.
    • Consent should be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous.
    • Users should also be able to easily withdraw their consent.

Hi @ndufrane , thanks for following up!

You can check out the official General Data Protection Regulation guide for more information on handling consent.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with.

Thanks for that Marija. I can see how that code would be useful – but how do I customize the JavaScript that the plugin generates?

I understand I need to add fbq(‘consent’, ‘revoke’); to the Pixel code.

Are you suggesting I need to change code that the plug-in generates or I am missing something? Thank you

    Hi @ndufrane ,

Yes, you can call fbq(‘consent’,’revoke’) in case a user does not provide consent and it will prevent the event from being tracked. There’s no need to alter the plugin’s JavaScript files, you should be able to add the exception through a Cookie/Consent plugin.

    Kind regards,
    Marija
