Controlling new user accounts

I’ve just switched from Socializer to Social Connect for user account creation and I’ve seen a rush of apparent spammers creating accounts (though none have been able to do anything yet).
How would I know if only social ID can be used to create a new user account? There’s no indication of any link to social ID in the user account details. How should I control and manage new user account creation with this plugin?
