Content not restricted if using custom template

Hi, I am using PMPro to restrict the content on the basis of membership, but I noticed that, If I am using a custom template for a page, then the restriction is not getting applied, it is unrestricted and can be accessed by any one. Am I missing anything or is there any setting for this or is this the way the plugin work?

Eg:- I have a page called “About You“, and I am using a custom template for this page, and I restricted this page for a particular Membership, Now if I select the default template for this page everything works as intended, I am getting the message “This content is for XXXXX members only.”, but if I change the template to my custom template from the template section in the editor, the page is no longer protected.
