Hi, I’ve just installed the reCAPTCHA plugin and followed all the instructions, but the actual tick box doesn’t appear on my contact form. I know the Contact Form 7 website states “reCAPTCHA v3 doesn’t need a CAPTCHA widget” but I’m a bit confused as to whether it will work. I sent a text message to myself and I wasn’t asked to prove I wasn’t a robot. How does this work, as I would like to have no more messages offering me penis enlargements, notifying me of women for sex in my city, numerous bitcoin related comms and that bloody Aly Ciman wanting me to advertise on his website. Thanks.

P.S. I initially logged this query with Contact Form 7 and the guy simply referred me to this forum, so I hope you can help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Something seems really wrong. Looking at the page source there’s no instance of the Google ReCaptcha script being enqueued. Ensure that your theme has wp_head() and wp_footer() used properly. Ensure that you’re using [recaptcha] tag in your form. Ensure that in the ReCaptcha Settings has version 2 selected. Ensure that the API keys are for the version 2 with a checkbox ( through your Google console ).

Assuming you have all the above settings correct you’ll need to start disabling plugins and reverting to a default theme. I suggest using the WordPress Healthcheck Plugin to do this safely without effecting your userbase.

Thank you very much for your response. Sadly my WordPress knowledge is not fantastic and so I don’t know what you mean when you suggested I check “wp_head()” and “wp_footer()” are used properly. I wouldn’t know if they were.

Yes, I tried putting [recaptcha] tag in the form, but it still didn’t work. Yes, recaptcha 2 is selected. Will recheck API keys. If this doesn’t work, I’ll just have to remove the plugin and carry on without it or maybe find another plugin.

    Thanks again.

    Hello,

We would expect to see https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api.js in the source code of the website but we do not see it. It’s difficult to say what would be causing this issue simply looking at the website and would require some debugging. The issue could be a theme or plugin conflict. We suggest installing the Health Check & Troubleshooting. This will allow you to disable plugins and revert to a default theme until the issue is solved. Once you find the conflicting plugin or theme we can look further into why that conflict occurred and if there’s anything we can do on our end to prevent that from happening.

To be honest, something must be working as I’ve had no where near the same amount of spam messages this past week. I usually get several a day, but so far this week I’ve had just 2.

I apologise, I’ve not as yet carried out your instructions due to other commitments. I’m a bit anxious of reverting the theme back to its original state in case it causes other problems. As I mentioned previously, I have seen a reduction in spam messages, so I’ll leave things as they are (regardless of whether it is working or not). If I do start to receive countless spam messages I’ll just remove the plugin and live with it. I appreciate the catch up message though.
