    Hello,

    We discovered that, since around September of last year, BackWPUp has failed to create backups for many of our client sites. Our logs list these failed backups as “OK” with a runtime of 0 seconds.

    We investigated the issue and determined that Really Simple SSL’s “WordPress 301 redirection to SSL” setting is responsible. This setting is enabled in Really Simple SSL by default. If we change its redirection method to Javascript, our backups are able to complete successfully.

    We would prefer to avoid Javascript-based SSL if possible. Would you mind letting us know if there’s a better way to ensure compatibility between BackWPUp and Really Simple SSL?

    For what it’s worth, the failed backup logs all end with the following line:

    1. Trying to make a list of folders to back up …

    This issue has been reported twice before (here and here) but I don’t think it was diagnosed or correctly resolved in either case.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hi @elevory
    Thank you for reporting it, but I tested with latest BWU 3.6.9, latest WP version and also latest Really Simple SSL and see no issue.
    Also, in Really Simple SSL setting there are 3 options already enabled are:

    Mixed content fixer
    Enable WordPress 301 redirection to SSL
    Enable Javascript redirection to SSL

    @elevory

    since we haven’t heard back from you, I’m going to mark it as resolved.
    If you’re still having problems, feel free to let us know ;),

    Btw, If you find BackWPUp is useful for you, we would really appreciate if you leave a positive review and rating.
    This would encourage us to develop new free features and provide free support 😀
