“Normal” WordPress installations have their .htaccess in the site root folder.

If one uses “WordPress in a folder” you’ll then have an .htaccess file in the site root and also one located in the folder that holds the WordPress files.

Where should Hummingbird’s Compression and Browser Caching rules be placed? In the site root or the WordPress folder?

In either case, should Hummingbird’s rules come before or after the standard WordPress Rewrite rules?

    Thanks!

  • @kendawes,

It doesn’t really matter. Browser caching and gzip compression rules don’t interfere with rewrite rules.
