This could be theme or plugin conflict. Try:
– deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
– If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Thanks for the info! Would you recommend trying Health Check first, since it won’t affect my visitors? Or should I just throw up a maintenance page and disable everything and try it the old fashioned way?
I have full control over my site – I don’t need others to do updates or install plugins.

Use it if you don’t want to affect your visitors.

Hi Support
So I am running a book blog as linked.
I use the default commenting system (I don’t have anything like Disqus installed) and I have the it set up so that once I approve a comment, the person can comment without needing to be approved again.
I have ONE person who repeatedly comments (who I love engaging with!) who I need to approve every single time.
Why? Can I fix it?
