Support » Plugin: Jetpack by » Comment form height

For months now I’ve seen a height issue on the comment form box in Jetpack Comments when the box is in a collapsed state. The placeholder text, “Enter your comment here” is cut off. I see this all over the web.

Since the box is in an iframe, I don’t see a decent way of targeting it with CSS. The problem is on the #comment textarea element, which is getting an inline style of height: 10px applied to it. In every case I’ve seen this, doubling the height to 20px fixes it perfectly.

You can see examples of this in action on Matt’s site here, and on WP Tavern. See this screenshot.

On both Matt’s site and WP Tavern (as well as every other site with Jetpack comments) the text is *not* cut off for me. I am using the latest Chrome on OSX. What browser version and Operating system are using? Have you tried with a different browser? Have you tried using your browser in “Safe mode” or without any extensions/plugins enabled?

Interesting. I’m on Chromium dev channel. I had tested it cross browser using the same minimal extensions. I tracked it down to Ghostery blocking Gravatar, but only in Chromium. It doesn’t happen in Firefox with Ghostery enabled.

This seems like a non-issue considering the circumstances. I’m just glad to know it’s not in Jetpack. 🙂

    Thanks for the reply.
