• Hi all,
I start to build my new website, and when I try to edit the code in the code editor, it all goes wrong.

When I start to write some code, sometimes I leave the page for a second (for example, to copy the link URL), and when I go back to the code editor, it deletes the new code that I wrote, sometimes it duplicates my code, and sometimes it just adds some gibberish to my code.

I hope you guys can help me solve this issue because it’s annoying, and I can not progress on my project.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Can you give more details?
What version of WP are you using? What language is selected for the admin?
Which editor are you using? (what specifically do you do to “edit code”?)
Does it happen in all browsers? Do you have a browser extension in the one you are using that could interfere?

Can you try it with Health Check plugin in Troubleshoot mode? This allows you to disable plugins/theme for your user only, to isolate if it’s a plugin or WP.

Hi joy thanks for your reply,
I use WordPress version 5.7. Language is English for admin. I think the editor is Gutenberg. To edit code, I go to a specific page and change to the code editor option. I don’t know if it happens on all browsers I’m only using chrome. No, I do not have extensions on my browser.
I used health check, and it still stays the same.
    any idea?

You could be experiencing the problem described here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/29988#issuecomment-813552286
I don’t know the next steps for getting that fix in, but the next minor release is scheduled: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2021/03/22/wordpress-5-7-1-maintenance-release-schedule/
You might try WP Downgrade plugin to go back to 5.6.2.
