I was trying to follow directions from http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory to redirect from a pre-existing subdirectory to the root directory. I made a mistake in the index.php:in copying, adding a line, and moving it. Now I cannot access the site nor the wp-admin.

    My install is at: im.mikediane.com/wp
The root directory I was trying to use was: im.mikediane.com
I had changed the site address on the General panel.

    Can anyone please help?
    Thank you,
    Diane

  • What is the permalink for the test post?

The post numbers are not showing up on this page or the previous pages for me.

Is there another way I can see the numbers?

The permalink for the post is: http://im.mikediane.com/archives/1121

I think you’ll have to count from the top of each page if you can’t read the numbers.

Doesn’t it strike you as strange? That you published a post yet the permalink appears to be an archive?

Yes, it does seem very strange!

Are you 100% sure now? that your dashboard is working 100% correctly?

The best I can tell. I’ve been able to edit a page and a post. I’ve opened the plugins, looked at the general settings. What else should I try to do to test it?

I deleted Hello Dolly plugin and it is gone now.

    5 days ago you wrote:

Right now, where is your install?

    Thread Starter pwdiane

    (@pwdiane)

    My install is at: im.mikediane.com

So today the install is at a different location than it was 5 days ago…

To revert everything diane has done over the last 5 days, what first would martin do today?

All the wordpress folders are still at im.mikediane.com/wp. But the theme I am using is not in the themes folder of that install.

So, I’m really not sure what is going on.

When I go to: im.mikediane.com/wp, I get the wordpress set up config page.

The same thing happens if I go to : im.mikediane.com/wp/wp-admin

I just get the set-up config page.

All the wordpress folders are still at im.mikediane.com/wp. But the theme I am using is not in the themes folder of that install.

So, I’m really not sure what is going on.

I’m fairly certain you now have what I would call a illegitimate “mixed” install. The whole of it exists at neither location.

How difficult would it be to recreate the last known good install from 5 days ago at im.mikediane.com/wp ??
