Hi…trying to set up Site Kit analytics on my site. This will be the third site on this analytics account. When I get to the dashboard to the dropdown menu, the site in question isn’t available. I get this message:

“An existing Analytics tag was found on your site with the ID UA-xxxxxxxxx-x. If later on you decide to replace this tag, Site Kit can place the new tag for you. Make sure you remove the old tag first.”

This is frustrating as I set up another site ten minutes after this with no problems. Both these sites are new and were built by me on the same day. The tag it’s showing is from another older site I have.

What can I do to make this work? I am not confident about going into code.

    Can you help?

    Thanks. Dean.

Thanks for reaching out. From inspecting your site I noticed a Analytics snippet placed with a SiteGround reference. During Analytics setup within Site Kit the plugin uses your existing Analytics snippet if it’s determined such a snippet already exists.

If you can remove this existing snippet you’ll then be able to select your preferred Analytics snippet based on your connected Google account. There may be a configuration at host level which may allow you to remove your hosting placed snippet.

Do you recall adding this snippet?

Thanks James. Figured it out. I actually had the old GADWP plugin still installed on my site. I disabled it and deleted it and the other code disappeared. All good now.

    Appreciate your help.

    Dean.

Excellent, thanks for the update. If you have a moment free share your feedback from using the plugin after you’ve tested out the various product dashboards, we’d love to hear from you.
