    Hi there,

I am not able to get this plugin to work and I am not able to understand what I need to do 🙂

I presumed I just had to activate your plugin and add a shortcode to any page like this:
    [ryv-popup video=”https://player.vimeo.com/video/44633289?autoplay=1″]

However that does nothing. I am not any good at css or html coding, so am I going to be able to get it to work?

    Hi @dav74,

what’s missing is the element you want to trigger the lightbox with.

This can be any element of your website such as a button. All you need to to is adding the css class to that element called ryv-popup.

After someone clicks on the element with the class, the popup will open.

    Best,
    David

    Hi @davidvongries

Thanks for the reply. OK bear with me.
I can add an image to a page via the WordPress media settings. When adding an image I can specify a custom URL for that image (in the ‘attachment display settings’).

    1. Can you give me an example of the URL I now add for that image in the display settings?
    2. Can you tell me how I set the custom CSS trigger on that image?
    3. Once I have done the above, where do I add then shortcode?

Eeek. Sorry my limitations are really showing.

    Hi @dav74,

after you’ve added the image to the page, switch over to the “code” mode in the wysiwyg-editor. There, you can now add a custom css class (see the screenshot below).

No need to specify a custom URL for the image 🙂

The screenshot can go on the same page like you can see on the screenshot.

    Hope that helps! 🙂

Thanks for the easy instructions! OK I have had partial success.
The video now loads, but it sits behind some other elements on the page. I am guessing this has something to do with “z index”???

Can you tell me if there is any adjustment to the code I can make, to ensure the video floats on top of all other elements on the page?

that happens when the shortcode is being nested. Ideally, add the shortcode right after the opening body tag of your page. What theme are you using?

There are usually hooks available in the theme that let you add code (in our case, the shortcode) in certain areas of the website.

Feel free to share the link of your website with me.

    David

Well it is not a theme you will know. They apparently use all the standard WC hooks.
Do you have an email and I can send the website URL? I want to keep it out of the public area.
