    Hi there,

I have used smush for the first time on a site with around 20 images which i have uploaded. The reason why I used smush was because my site is running extremely slow got a bad score for image optimization. I just started the site and hardly have anything on there so i was very confused why the site was running so slow.

When Smush finished compressing all my images, it said that 1107 images have been smushed! So I had a look at all my uploads and see images on here that I have never seen before! So i guess this is my problem for the bad image optimization score. So my questions is: 1. How did these images get uploaded to my site? 2. How can I remove them? 3. I also see the smushing has created a variation of 12 image sizes for 1 image! https://snipboard.io/ziaJEl.jpg, why did this happen and how can I prevent it?

    Best,
    Chris

    Hello @pleazo

    I trust you’re doing well!

    1. How did these images get uploaded to my site?

It is hard to say, perhaps you’re importing posts through an RSS feed, or there is a plugin that uploading images.

Please check the images, the dates these were uploaded, and where these are showing on a site. Check if you have other users that may be uploading images to your site.

    2. How can I remove them?

You can remove images from the Media Library. Just make sure to have a backup of your site. Or you may try the Media Cleaner plugin to remove unused images.

I also see the smushing has created a variation of 12 image sizes for 1 image! https://snipboard.io/ziaJEl.jpg, why did this happen and how can I prevent it?

These images are not created by the Smush plugin, but by WordPress, theme and plugins that you have active. WordPress creates thumbnails from the originally uploaded image that can be used across a site.

Have a good day and take care!
