I’ve had the plugin automatically installed on over 50 sites hosted on SiteGround. This is unfair and highly unprofessional. I don’t want anyone installing plugins automatically without my permission. The person who authorized this deployment will likely receive a bonus for reaching over 1 million installs in a week, but from my perspective, it sets a dangerous precedent, and I’m very disappointed.

    Hi Drake,

I just wanted to clarify a few things. We did email all affected customers ahead of the rollout. If that email did not reach you or was filtered, I completely understand why finding the plugin on your sites felt like it came out of nowhere, and I am sorry that this was your experience.

The plugin was enabled across SiteGround-hosted WordPress sites as part of the WordPress 7.0 rollout, excluding white-label sites and customers who had opted out. Our intention with this rollout was to provide a smooth transition to the major WordPress 7.0 release. By integrating the SiteGround AI Studio connector and the AI WordPress Agent, we wanted to make sure that all of our clients, regardless of their technical background, could immediately benefit from the new built-in AI capabilities in WordPress without needing to deal with manual configuration or external API keys.

If you do not want to use it, you can deactivate and remove it at any time with a click.

I understand your disappointment, but I hope this helps clarify the intention behind the process and the reason for the decision.

    Best Regards,
    Stanimir Panayotov
