My website was built by a developer who seems to only have created one sidebar within the theme. This sidebar is the main navigation for our website and is located on every page on the left hand side. I’m attempting to make some changes to our blog page specifically, including a twitter feed and numerous widgets to implement on the right hand of the blog page (https://www.exchangecapital.com/wealthy-street-blog/) but it’s not looking possible with the option of only one sidebar (that I would like to also be present on the page). Can someone confirm that without more than one sidebar available in the themes code I won’t be able to implement a “custom sidebar” that I was hoping to? Is registering a second sidebar in my themes code and then utilizing the Custom Sidebar plugin an option? Any feedback or help on how to go about creating this would be helpful. Thanks!

  • Hey there LMcLaughlin90,

    How are you doing today?

I’ve checked your theme and I couldn’t find a sidebar on any of your pages. What you’re mentioning on the left side is not actually a sidebar. In order for Custom Sidebars to work sidebar needs to be registered and properly called on any of the page templates.

If there is no following option to replace sidebar in Appearance -> Widgets, see screenshot http://screencast.com/t/ZTuCNwwlQ3, there is nothing our plugin can do as it can only replace sidebars rather then adding one on a page if that makes sense.

    Best regards,
    Bojan
